Double Macchiato began with a few friends. Between us, we run a design studio and two creative agencies and publish a biannual magazine.
We like the way our tastes and sensibilities intertwine and resonate; we had been looking for a vehicle to share, explore, and elaborate them.
Initially, our focus was on objects: things we could curate and distribute. We liked the immediacy this model offered us, the potential it showed for connecting with a wide network of consumers and producers and for becoming generative. We liked the idea of beginning with a holiday market: a forum through which, as gifts, the objects could take on their own lives through exchange.
We liked gathering very special art and design objects and books and strong espresso and placing them in dialogue with each other. These things functioned as extensions of our own ongoing dialogue.
We want to further that dialogue and make it public: to bring new voices and perspectives into the fold.
Double Macchiato brings the spiritual synthesis of espresso and cappuccino to an exploration of our contemporary cultural atmosphere.
